LaseMD: Frequently Asked Questions

  • As we age, collagen in our skin degrades, paving the way for fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Treatments like Lutronic’s LaseMD, which increase collagen levels in the skin, allows for more youthful, clearer and smoother skin.

LaseMD is a non-ablative, 1927nm wavelength fractional laser used to rejuvenate the skin at a cellular level, allowing us to target sun damage, uneven tone, rough texture and fine lines. Fractional lasers work by gently heating tissue in the deeper layers of your skin, while leaving the surface layer of skin intact. This creates microchannels in the skin, which stimulates our body to increase collagen production in the skin.

  • Before treatment, you will have a consultation with Dr. Aivaz to discuss your concerns and desired outcomes. During this consultation, Dr. Aivaz will examine you and ask questions about your medical history to ensure you are a candidate for treatment.

During treatment, the area will be cleaned and prepped for the procedure. The laser is passed over the treatment area. Pain is minimal and you may feel a warm, prickling sensation as the skin is treated. Cool air and ice make the procedure very tolerable. While most patients do not need numbing, topical medical-grade anesthetic can be used should you desire.

The procedure takes about 20 minutes. Expect redness and mild flaking for 5-7 days after the treatment, but it should not keep you from your regular activities. Strict sun protection is important post-procedure.

  • Depending on the treated area, anywhere between 3-5 sessions are needed, and these are spaced every 4 weeks. Yearly maintenance treatments might be needed as well.

  • Laser procedures have an excellent safety record in Dr. Aivaz’s hands. Adverse effects are exceedingly rare.
