  • Botox is a purified, FDA-approved protein that is injected in small amounts to temporarily relax wrinkle-causing muscles. The result is smoothing and softening of wrinkles and fine lines. Because Botox is minimally invasive, and requires minimal to no downtime, it is one of the most convenient ways to turn back the hands of time.

  • Almost identical to Botox, Dysport is also an FDA-approved treatment used to relax wrinkle-causing muscles. It achieves the same effect: smoothing and softening of wrinkles and fine lines. Because Dysport is minimally invasive, and requires minimal to no downtime, it is one of the most convenient ways to turn back the hands of time.

  • Botox can be injected into the masseter muscle (a muscle at the end of the jawline) to achieve facial slimming. Just like your biceps or glute muscles, the more you use the masseters, the bigger and stronger they get.

Dr. Aivaz uses botox to relax the masseters, which helps to reduce their activity, and this can have a dramatic effect on facial contour by slimming the face. Many people also experience less teeth grinding and clenching during sleep when they receive injections in their masseter muscles.

Treating the masseter muscle will not cause any problems with speech or eating, and patients will be able to make normal facial expressions.

  • Botox can be injected into the masseter muscle (a muscle at the end of the jawline) to relax the muscle and thus prevent teeth grinding and clenching.

Some people suffer from a condition called bruxism, where they grind or clench their teeth at night. The muscle that we use to grind is called the masseter. People with bruxism may suffer from headaches, jaw pain, TMJ pain, gum recession and even a change in the shape of the face! And just like your biceps or glute muscles, the more you use the masseters, the bigger and stronger they get. Botox injections into the masseters help to reduce their activity, and this can have a dramatic effect on improvement in bruxism (ie: less teeth grinding and clenching, especially during sleep).

Treating the masseter muscle will not cause any problems with speech or eating, and patients will be able to make normal facial expressions.

  • Botox injections are a safe, quick, and effective treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of the palms, soles, scalp, underarms or other areas. Because Botox minimizes sweat and oil production, Botox injections to the scalp also help keep blowouts looking and smelling fresher for longer.

Wrinkle Relaxers

Fillers are a soft, jelly-like substance composed of our body’s naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. Fillers restore the appearance of youthfulness by adding volume to areas that have thinned or hollowed out with aging, such as the cheeks, under-eye hollows, lips, and around the mouth.

Fillers are also used to contour facial features, plump lips, smooth lines and wrinkles, and enhance skin hydration and smoothness.

There are a large variety of fillers approved by the FDA. The main differences between the different types of fillers include the part of the face they are designed to treat, how long results last, and the components of the main ingredients.

During your consultation, Dr. Aivaz will choose the right filler for you based on your cosmetic concerns, goals, and facial structure.

Fillers

  • Dr. Aivaz can use a modern microcannula technique to gently place fillers into the skin. A tiny pilot needle is used to make one insertion point (ice and medical-grade numbing are used to make this virtually painless), and the blunt-tipped cannula (a tiny, hollow, narrow tube) is moved along the natural planes of the skin to deposit the filler. This makes the procedure more comfortable and significantly lowers the risk of bruising. Schedule a consultation to see if this technique is right for you!

Laser & Light Devices

Laser technology allows for the safe and effective treatment of damaged skin related to excessive sun exposure, aging, and scarring from acne or surgery. Lasers may also be used to stimulate collagen production, to remove unwanted hair, and to treat many other conditions.

  • IPL, also known as a photofacial, is a photorejuvenation treatment used to erase sun damage, brown spots, freckles, rosacea, and broken capillaries on the face, neck, chest, back, hands, and arms. Dr. Aivaz uses the Lumenis M22 IPL device.

What can I expect when getting a laser treatment?

    • The choice of laser depends on the individual patient, their treatment goals, and age. Before treatment, you will have a consultation with Dr. Aivaz to discuss your concerns and desired outcomes.

    • During this consultation, Dr. Aivaz will ask questions about your medical history to ensure you are a candidate for treatment. She will then perform a complete facial analysis and create a treatment plan custom-tailored to your needs.

    • The number of sessions depends on a variety of factors, such as skin type, the area and condition being treated, type of laser used, and overall goal of the treatment.

    • During treatment, the area will be cleaned and prepped for the procedure. A topical, medical-grade anesthetic will be used to numb the area. Ice packs and cool air will also be used to make you as comfortable as possible. The laser is passed over the treatment area, and most patients describe a feeling of heat and/or a rubber band snapping on the skin. The appointment can take anywhere from 15-60 minutes, depending on the area that’s being treated.

How can I prepare for my laser treatment?

    • Avoid getting a tan and make sure to protect your skin from the sun by seeking shade, wearing sun-protective clothing, and applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above.

    • Before your treatment, you may also need to stop using certain skin care products, like topical retinoids, and/or start taking an antiviral or antibiotic medication, if determined to be necessary.

Why should I see Dr. Aivaz for my laser treatment?

    • Laser treatment is a true art form and the results of treatment depend largely on the skill of the person performing that procedure.

    • Dr. Aivaz is a board-certified dermatologist, with extensive education on facial anatomy, aesthetic treatments, and expertise in performing laser therapies. Her expertise in lasers, and the care she takes to ensure she understands each individual’s goals and desired outcomes leave her patients feeling very happy with their cosmetic outcomes.

Additional Treatments for Skin Rejuvenation

While lasers are an excellent option for skin rejuvenation, some patients wish to explore alternative therapies for brightening their complexion and improving skin tone and texture. Please explore our treatment options!

  • Chemical peels use a cosmetic solution to exfoliate and remove the outer layer of skin, thereby improving the texture and appearance of skin. Patients of all skin colors enjoy the flexibility of choosing a peel that’s right for their skin as well as the noticeable results that a peel brings.

    More info

  • The Melanage Peel is an innovative brightening peel that is extremely effective for treating melasma (also known as the ‘mask of pregnancy’) and is also used to treat stubborn pigmentation. The peel also helps improve fine lines, skin tone and texture while restoring a youthful glow to the skin.

The peel mask is applied in the office and patients leave the office with the peel on the face. The peel will be washed off at home 5-10 hours after the in-office application. An at-home kit is provided by us to use for about a month after the peel to optimize results, and enhance the longevity of the results.

This peel is safe and effective for all skin types, including skin of color. There is no pain and little-to-no irritation during the application of the mask. Typically, the irritation level in the following days is like a sunburn. Most patients peel for 5-7 days after the peel.

  • TCA cross is an innovative technique used to treat deep acne scars, also known as atrophic scars, or icepick and boxcar acne scars. A high concentration of TCA (trichloroacetic acid) is meticulously placed into each individual scar to achieve the chemical reconstruction of skin scars (CROSS). The TCA creates an inflammatory reaction within the scar, leading to stimulation of collagen production in the depression. This ultimately results in noticeable improvement in the appearance of the scar.

  • Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure for revitalizing and rejuvenating skin tone and texture anywhere on the body. It can be paired with or without PRP depending on desired goals.

Dr. Aivaz uses the SkinPen® microneedling device, which is the only FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market. The SkinPen has 12 sterilized microscopic needles on it, and as it is passed over the skin during the treatment, millions of microchannels are created in the skin. This controlled and purposeful injury to the skin triggers a release of our body’s natural growth factors which results in collagen remodeling and the production of new collagen and elastin.

This leads to smoother skin texture as well as a reduction in pigmentation and scarring. The punctures are surface-level, making pain minimal.

    More info

  • Lutronic’s Genius® microneedling with radiofrequency device allows for the production of new collagen by combining two unique treatments in one device. The Genius delivers radiofrequency energy into the lower dermal layers while simultaneously creating microscopic channels in the skin, both of which stimulate increased collagen production in the skin, leading to smoother, youthful, and firmer skin.

Dr. Aivaz always pairs each Genius treatment with a complementary LaseMD treatment to optimally rejuvenate the superficial layers of the skin as well, resulting in amazing results for both texture and pigmentation!

Some, but not all, of the methods she employs include chemical peels, prescription-strength lightening creams, and microneedling. • Hair mesotherapy is a technique whereby medications that are typically taken orally for hair loss are injected directly into the scalp to stimulate hair growth. The intradermal application delivers the medication directly into the hair follicle. It has a lower risk of long-term systemic side effects given that the medication is not taken orally. Dr. Aivaz uses minoxidil or dutasteride or a combination of the two for her mesotherapy treaments, which she performs every 3 months. Dr. Aivaz uses mesotherapy to treat receding hairlines, male and female pattern hair loss, and other forms of hair loss. This treatment is effective in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth.
